Across the border
Many trips don't stop at the border. Kruger from Maputo is a three-hour drive, the Big Five with logistics we already own. Eswatini, a kingdom in the hills, Reed Dance, Hlane Royal NP.
Maputo is closer to Kruger than to Bazaruto. We treat the border as a soft thing, three to seven days inside Kruger pair beautifully with a few days on the Mozambican coast either side. We run the cars, the drivers, the lodges, and the cross-border paperwork. Eswatini sits in between, a tiny kingdom of green hills, ceremony (the Umhlanga Reed Dance every August), and accessible reserves like Hlane Royal for rhino on foot and Mlilwane for hiking among zebra. Many premium itineraries braid all three countries into one trip.
