Hlane Royal National Park · day trip
Wild Eswatini
A wilderness day in Hlane Royal National Park, a former royal hunting ground and a rhino sanctuary, with a rhino and lion drive in an open vehicle.
The day
Hlane Royal National Park was once a private, royal hunting ground. Today it is a sanctuary for both black and white rhino, where an encounter is almost always possible, and home to some of the largest white-backed vulture colonies in Africa. We pick you up at 6am and drive to the Namaacha / Lomahasha border to cross into the Kingdom of Eswatini. After entering the park we take a short self-drive while we wait for the Rhino and Lion drive, then spend two and a half hours in an open vehicle before returning to Ndlovu Camp for lunch. After a slow-paced meal, we start the drive back to Maputo.
